The guy I bought it from said he kept it in his barn. The hood is very shiny so I would tend to believe it.

'83 for sale

I am looking to sell my '83 Vmax project. I purchased the sled to restore, but won't get to it. The motor has 120 lbs. of comp. each side, and has spark. The carbs were really nasty, so I purchased another set. I took the handlebars, tank cover, and airbox off to pull the carbs and replace fuel line...

Vmax trade

Well I am contemplating trading my '83 Vmax for a rideable '90 to '94 Polaris RXL. My sled itself is partially disassembled, the handlebars, tank cover, and airbox are off. I bought a nice set of carbs for it, because mine were pretty nasty. I never put it back together because I noticed it needs a ...

Those pictures are actually backwards, I rotated them when I resized them.
So these are carbs off of a newer Vmax? Can I use them on my '83? Is the jetting correct for my '83?

Carb question

I bought a set of carbs for an '83 Vmax on ebay. My question is that they both have a large brass fitting sticking out of the carb body. My carbs on the sled now do not. They look like some sort of electrical switch. Anyone know what these are for?

I will switch carbs, but I am pretty sure the pilots are clean. I made sure the pilot jets and passages up to the venturi were clear.

Air leaks

I got my Vmax running, but it is a pain to start and only idles on the mag cylinder. It is hard to bring off idle but once it revs up it will idle with the choke on. I sprayed WD around the crankseal and cylinders and couldn't find a leak. The engine has 120 ilbs. of compression and great spark. Doe...

Carb swap

Hi,
The carbs on my '83 cannot be saved. Has anyone done a swap to non power jet 38's?
If so what are the jetting specs? Also if anyone has a good set of original powerjet carbs that are complete for sale, let me know.
Thanks.
