Stator Swap

Post by Donnie »

Hey all,

Can I swap my '83 stator with the newer one that has the extra wire for hand warmers without any other changes?

Thanks

Yes. But i'm not sure if the extra lead will have power with your flywheel.
I have a 85 stator in my 83 and I get no power to the wire. It could be bad. But everything else works as usual.

Hey, opsled HOW MUCH SNOW DID YOU GET TODAY (Friday Dec. 28)?

I have an 85 flywheel and it looks the same. Does anyone know if the handwarmer wire will work then?

Thanks

I might have a problem with mine. If the flywheel looks identical it should work.

OPSLED: Had to west of Rockford today. They got 6+ out there.
Hope you had a good ride!

You should use the newer flywheel as well , I was told by a Yamaha Technician that the magnets were different to power the extra coil . If you put both the stator and flywheel on then the extra wire will work, just feed it up to the hand warmers and you are good to go..
