Vehicle Description
All you collectors read carefully! You are bidding on an incredible 1983 Yamaha Vmax 540 snowmobile. I have owned this snowmobile for 4 years. It has been stored indoors it's entire life. I bought it from a person in Tomahawk, WI who had no idea what he had! The sled has 2700 original miles. I bought it with 2400 miles in 2004. I will start with the body. Chassis is in great condition. Belly pan is very nice. See pics. Skis are good and straight, they have a little light surface rust. All front suspension components work properly. Hood is mint! Nicest original hood I have ever seen. Headlight flip up assembly works perfectly. Windshield is an aftermarket Sno-Stuff that does have some light scratches, no cracks. One bolt is missing that holds on the windshield. Side panels are nearly mint. See pictures. Tunnel is completely straight, no damage. The paint on the running boards where your feet go is a little worn off. Seat is nice but does have 3 small holes on the left rear.See pics. Track and rear suspension are in excellent condition. This sled has 96 studs with anadized red backers. Track is nice, I did not see any torn lugs. Boggie wheels and bearings all seem good. Handlebars are nice and all gauges work, including the lights. I have the original cover for this snowmobile but it is in poor condition. Original decals are in near perfect condition. This vmax has the legandary 540cc Liquid Cooled, twin pipe, twin carb. engine. Sled runs perfect. I have not ridden it in 2 years. When I took it our of storage today it started after 4 pulls! Compression is 130 in both cylinders. The black paint on the cylinder head is chipping off. The pipes are good but do have some small hairline cracks. They will need a little attention. Factory clutch has been swapped out with a Comet 102c. Clutch engages at 5200 rpm!! This thing rips! Engine compartment could use a little detailing. The extras that are included in the auction are......1 extra coil, 1 extra voltage regulator, original stock clutch, original cover, extra taillight assembly, original owners manual, registration card, original tool kit, extra side grill piece, extra seat cover (not great), and some other misc odd and ends.... see pictures. These sleds are really going up in value. An identical sled to this one sold on ebay last year for $2100. I have had this sled at a little over 90 mph. It is really fast and really fun to drive. You won't believe the looks you will get! The only reason I am selling this Vmax is becuase I need the money to finish the restoration on my 1978 Yamaha SRX 440.Please feel free to call or email me with any questions. I would encourage anyone to come and look at it. Please contact me with any questions before bidding. 708-218-3371 Mike. I have tried to describe the sled as best as possibly. No reserve auction. Highest bidder will win. Buyer must pick up the sled in Plainfield, IL or arrange for me to assist you with delivery for a price. I would be willing to ship the sled but I will charge $425 to crate and buyer must arrange all shipping. Please call for pricing on assistance with delivery before bidding. Good luck.
