Taming The beast

Hello ,
I have a wiley sled that I need tips and advice to sort out.My Chassis is an 8M6,81 SRX440 .My Engine is an 8U9, 83 540. It has Aaen pipes and A Magnum gold primary. The Autolube system is disabled, the pump is still there but the cable and tank are removed. The carbs I have were hooked up to the chassis when I got it.so they are probably the 440 carbsThe aibrox is also misssing(NOOOOO) It all fits together and kinda runs, but badly. It almost completely refuses to start
I'm also not sure which nozzzle to hook the fuel pump up to for it's vaccuum.there are the two near the crank bearings, which i suspect are for oil supply. and there is a small one near the stamped number by the recoil.Where was it from factory.
The compression is 125 in each cylender.I know these engines are picky so I want to get the carburation sorted out and jetted properly.I have had no luck sourcing an airbox.Everything seems ok so I am suspecting the carbs as my trouble, since they are from the 440(32 or 34 mm,can't remember) and weren't originally set up for premix,
I am the only person around here with one of these that is even close to running, there are 2 in the salvage yard, but neither have engines and are mostly dismantled.so I have nothing to compare with.
What are your ideas for me?
