Bellypan

Post by modsingle »

I have an 83 V Max without the hole and door to drain the oil from the gear case. Did the 81 SRX have the Door? Has anyone else seen the dooless belly pan on an 1983. I am wondering if this pan has been changed?

I have the 81 SRX factory service manual and it states that the engine has to be removed to change or drain the oil. ;-(

I have antifreeze getting into my gearbox so this summer I need to pull the engine apart and change the seals. Just got this manual on Microfiche, and picked up a Microfiche scanner cheap.

The manual shows a dipstick that was included in the "packaging" in order to check the oil. Where can you get one of these dipsticks?

I just changed the seal on my 81 this winter and it was a pain in the ass but it was better than paying the stealer to do it. mine has the updated gearcase with no serial numbers on itand it has the drain bolt on the bottom .i may put an access door in my pan for future drains however it still has the screw in cap wish it had the dipstick though.
