Sounds like it is running rich on one or more cylinders. Check that all 4 floats float at the same height. These are famous for getting fuel logged. Check to see that the fuel pump diaphragms are not cracked and letting fuel run into the case.

same...tries to start and kicks, but no start. Haven't looked into since we last spoke....getting the Odyssey and quad ready for spring. I am looking for someone local who knows the Vmax to get it professionally serviced as this is now beyond this stupid bankers tech level. :( Thanks for all your assistance

I personally have seen two intermitten CDI's that would run fine for 15 minutes or so then cut out and eventually shut down until it cooled off then start back up.

For some reason, before I owned it, someone had moved the box to under the plastic over by the left side foot well. To do that he made basically an extension cord for all the wires to run over there, it ran under the engine. the wire was not worn through the colored plastic, but was broke inside the outer casing and would cause a intermittent short
