Sway Bars

Post by Eman »

Does anyone have any information on the aftermarket swaybar kits for a Vmax. I just picked up a parts sled with a sway bar on it. Do they help or was it not worth the time. It bolts on the outside of the pan and to the main ski bolt.

thanks

Eman, according to micro-film Yamaha offered an optional sway bar. Sway bars definately help when ridding hard in the turns but, Will take away from the softness of front end ride.

I've always thought they were butt ugly. They probably work but I couldn't bring myself to drill holes in a nice belly pan to intsall it and then have to look at it afterwords. I have been meaning to look into trying to fit the torsion style swaybar like is used on 570 Exciters to a 540 Vmax. I think I have seen it done but I can't remember where I saw it. There is room for it on the Vmax and it would look much better.
Good Luck, Phil (opsled)
