took both 81 srx out for a ride for the first time

well i took both my 81 srxs up north for the weekend they both ran amazing here are some pictures.

Tell me the last time anyone saw two 81 SRX's together on the snow at the same time.... just plain awesome ! The windshield looks tall on the one ?

it felt amazing i was blown away when i got on it. it handled very well lots of power it was incredible i never wanted to get off it. again riding the srx for the first time it was amazing it handled very well.

you got that right . when i was out riding this weekend im telling you did we ever get alot of people looking on the trail. im not sure why it looks tall that how i got i know its to tall.

The looks and comments make riding a vintage sled all the more enjoyable ! If there are no part #'s on the side of that shield then maybe it is a do it yourself job ?

What do you mean by do it yourself job?
i think its defectof windshield.

You can buy a sheet of Lexan and cut one yourself and then form it with a heat gun, I have seen some do a very nice job.

Wow-look at the difference in the rear suspensions....does the one with the 83-up pro-action link ride a little better, or a lot better ??? I always thought that suspension rode pretty decent for its age, that is until they morphed them back into the early-mid 90's vmax's....then they were sub-par ......and the 96' XT's with the pro-action "plus" - oh my-finally a longer travel unit!!!

but i blew one up trying too catch a apex ..
too much RPM for too long and those dam after market rings.
so back to the work bench with her..
pistons, rings are wiseco std
both sleds are 540 vmax motors
440 motors are benched
