83 vmax with no top end !!

83 vmax with no top end !!

This 83 I have wants to lay down at about 60 mph or quit pulling.From idle to 60+ it pulls very hard till it hits 60 mph. Any idea's ?? Thx

Unles something sounds ugly in the engine, I would look at clutching first.
Does it pull cleanly up to shift out speed, What is that rpm?

Belt does have alot of wear on it.You can see a little steel on top showing thru(lol).Tach is at about 6,500-7,000 at 60 mph.Clutch does engage at 4,000.Has a factory comet and looks to in very nice shape..thx

Looks can be decieving. I found the bushing in the arms worn out in my SRV a week ago, one arm was not really moving out.. If ot doesn't reach its full shift out RPM. it isn't going to be making power. check both clutches over carefully

Guess you guys were right about checking over the clutchs very carefully.I'll be dam,looked at them like 5 times and never seen nothing wrong.Untill this morning,found the primary clutch spring broke.What color spring should I replace it with(pink)?
