Non-Power Jet 38mm Carb specs

Post by Speednutt »

I have a project coming together and i need a baseline to set up standard 38mm mikuni's. I am not running an airbox, so the power jet setup is out of the question(not enough vacuum for them to function). I have a set of standard 38's that i would like to use so i can keep my powerjet set up complete.

Anyhow, just curious if any racers out there have played around with the standard carbs and would be willing to share some jet and needle specs. Since the power jet is removed, the main jet is going to have to increase quite abit. I am also going to be running premix gas so that too is going to increase main jet size. With such a large jump in main jet size, i am wondering how much to increase the needle jet (tube) as i am questioning if it can flow the amount of fuel it will need.

I am thinking the main jet will need to be around mid to upper 300s, maybe even 400's.

When i have this project complete i will post pics as it will more than likely make a few of you smile.
