Pulling the stator on 81 SRX

Post by messina1974 »

I need to pull and replace my stator on this yamaha. Just wondering if any one has been able to do it without removing engine? It looks like the engine needs pulled, However I was not sure if a short steering wheel puller would have enough room to get in there and get it off thanks MIKE

it IS possible to get it all out with the motor in... but your going to need a real short puller of some sort....

i just looked real quick for a picture of our puller (which i thought i posted on here) i didnt find it but i found this...

My airbox is held on by one screw, not because Im lazy but because it is less weight!

Not sure if a VM is different. I was able to loosen the engine mounting plate and pull off the clutch, then just tip the side of the engine up, had all the room in the world, didn't have to drain water or take off much else.

A basic 3 bolt puller used on everything on cars will do it
