I was riding this morning and all the sudden the clutch would not disengage so I rode it back the shop & found out & found a small peice of the spider broke away by the roller.Anyone know why this would happen? Thank goodness for spare clutches.

Well if you ever tried to just drag your sled a few feet, you understand what you asking the clutch to do every time you move . It takes alot of power just to move it much less quickly, all that force goes threw the clutch.
If you don't clean and lube the clutch regularly, things will bind up and or rust up..The arms have to rotate on their bushings, they have to push out on the rollers, the sheave has to move in on bushings, if any things going to bind up, something is going to brake.

The Comet 102 & 108's even with regular maintenance start to show wear and slop by the 1000 mile mark. A yearly inspection should include a through cleaning and replacement of any out of spec. parts. Like Bob said the clutch is one of the most important items and often over looked.
