Speed of these Vmax's

Post by 91 Vmax sled »

Just like to see what speed everyone else is getting from these Vmax's at Rader Runs etc.
And weather your sled is stock at that speed or any upgrades you added that pushes you to that top speed.

I think some of these newer sled guys are very surprized at the speed these old Lake Racers can get to.

I personally finished a resto of my 1981 SRX which included a complete rebuild of the engine to all original specs and parts. I ran it on Stillwater Res, outside of Old Forge, NY and had a top run of 88. Which for a 28 yr old sled I thought was pretty good considering it was carrying all 200lbs of me on it...If I had to, I'd bet the Vmax's would easily hit 90+...Either way the "vaderish" SRX/Vmax was and still is one of my favorite looking sleds of all time!!!

Yea, I happened to find some NOS pistons, rings, gasket set and a few bearings from a Yamaha Dealer locally but ordered a 2nd set of everything through the same dealer who is a parts-unlimited carrier. They are being put in my other 81 SRX at the moment and seem by my eyes to be very similar and from what I've heard have worked fine for others. And for the price it wasn't too bad at all.
