Looking for help

My 83 starts then dies then starts back up then dies then starts dies. Maybe runs for 10 minutes then dies then starts back up right away. Or jsut dies right away then starts back up. Like it just shuts off. Good compression, good fuel all new fuel lines new fuel pumps cleaned carbs, Strator or maybe cdi ?? Un hooked all kill switches same issues. Thanks Brad

My bet is with one of the stators coils going south and acting up after it starts to get warm and changing the resistance. Make sure all connections are clean dry and tight with no bare wires on the wiring harness.

Id say Chuck is dead on I was having the same problem, I would take your stator off and check if its loose just make sure you mark the stator on the recoil housing in the exact spot it came off.

I will try that this weekend I checked all the wires about 3 times. I really miss riding the v-max even the little bit it does run makes me want to get it going agian.

I was suffering somewhat the same thing. It would start, run about 30 sec, then no spark either side. Letting it sit for hours and spark was back. I did the ohm test which came out ok, and now problem seems to be gone. My guess is bad connection in the plugs down below. Of course I guess it could come back and bite me again, won't know untill I can get out again, right now were swamped with work

This is the reason I had all the trouble Bob, I put a stator from a 81 SRX on my v-max and the wires i spliced together were not connected well.....My buddy thats an electrician sodered them and end of problem.
