draining coolant

draining coolant

anybody have any suggestions for draining coolant from the motor without making a giant mess.im ready to remove my gearcase and water pump and dont want antifreeze everywhere if its possible.

Put a funnel and a container under the two antifreeze bleed bolts on the front of the cylinders.

better idea when pulling the water pump and gearcase is to drain from the line for the temp sending unit that goes to the water pump . eliminatiing a antifreeze lake under your motor when you pull the heat exchanger hose from the waterpump . the bolts above the exhaust only drain the head and cylinders. i connected a hose to the existing one and ranit lower than the motor and it worked great no mess
