Now, I'm nervous

Well, just started looking in the engine box tonight. When I bought this last winter, I was told it was just rebuilt by someone, but the owner couldn't get it to start. It did have brand new pistons in it. It wouldn't start because the carbs were filled with dirt. Cleaned that up and it fired right up. Had it running at idle for about 3 min. and I heard it loose rpm. I knew what that was, pulled the pipes and saw the beginning of a 4 corner stick. The scuffing was pretty light. I tore it down, one side had piston to wall at .001, the other at .003. At that point it went into a box until today.
So here are my current, never ending questions. The cyl's have cast iron liners in them, judging by the port matching it was done by either Stevie or Ray. Keep in mind, this is my first ever VM engine. The pistons, which are cast have a 4 leaf clover logo, with a sort of triangle inside it. That is the only marking I can find on them. The piston measures 72.5 mm at the top, 73.1 at the skirt, yes I understand why but I'm trying to find out is that is considered a standard size or a overbore size, and who made the pistons. They aren't Wisco's, don't look like any of the Kimpex or Yami's that I've had in my SRV.
I can clean up the bad piston in the lathe, the scuffing is very light, I probably could re use the rings, but if I could get new ones, I would. No Idea where to look and I haven't pulled the rings yet to get a width.
My guess with cast pistons and iron liner that about .004 should be close on piston to wall but again, I've never had one of these. Anyone else ever see or run this combo?

Bob, can't tell you much but, I have a couple pistons here with that design. They are made by LLP Mfg. Co. INC. I want to say they could be a Canadian company ? I found by putting the part# of the LLP piston in goggle brings up a Sport Parts INC. cross and looking inside a SPI piston I see the same Logo you speak of !

Thanks for looking that up, the pistons on that link look nice, appear to have Teflon coated skirts.
I think right now because were really getting busy with customer sleds, I'm going to just map out the ports, If I can clean up the mess this guy did, without getting into dangerous territory, I'll just open it up a few thou. and clean up the pistons, bolt it together and give it a shot. I can only hope this guy hasn't been in the bottom end.
I've always loved my SRV, but what I always wanted is one of these. I just want to ride it.
Both here and Sasha's site have been getting busy, must be getting close, can't wait. Thanks
