83 V-max oil injection question

Question on setting oil pump cable on my 83 max. I have been told to go 22mm to 1" when you pull the cable apart. Mine is at 1 1/2" ( one and a half inch) of gap at the cable adjuster. What are they setting this cable at?Is mine not getting enough or to much oil? Thanks for any help with this. Thanks for a great web site.

Welcome to V.V. ! I have always lined the dot to the opposite cable end. Someone correct me if I am wrong but, if the gap is wider/longer that should be less oil ? Don';t forget if this is not the updated red dot oil pump then maybe someone tried to give it less oil with the stock black dot pump ?

AutoLube- Pump Color / Control Rod Adjustment Red/ Adjustment Mark @ Full Throttle
Pump Plunger Stoke Min/ Max 0.50~0.55mm/ 2.15~2.27mm
Output @ 200 strokes Full Throttle/ Idle 5.40~5.71 cc/ 1.26~1.38cc

When I measure the gap should I have throttle wide open? Thanks again.
