to spark or not to spark
to spark or not to spark
Hi just wondering if there is a way to test the voltage output of the stator i think mine is kicking in and out, because i had spark then all of a sudden it was gone, the manual does not say anything about a voltage test but if you put a voltage meter on it and pull it over i'm thinking it should pick something up any ideas?(have alredy checked connections, swapped cdi and ignition coil(but did not have my meter handy to check any ohms readings on the stator) and no change.
the voltage is going to vary according to rpms... that is why to test the coils you test the resistance (ohms) i suppose you could test the coils using voltage but you would need to turn the motor at a exact rpm for long enough to get a steady reading and even at that i dont know what the value is supposed to be hahaha... check the ohms of the stator
My airbox is held on by one screw, not because Im lazy but because it is less weight!

thanks tyler thats what happened all over the place when you pull it,my red/brn ohm reading is down to 170 from 208 so thats not good, but i have a spare stator its reading 204 so i'm going to swap it out.getting pretty good at pulling the motor on this thing and i will also get more practice at aligning those clutches eh! but it was nice to hear it purrr for a minute or two.oh ya notice my spare stator has the extra wire (yellow black stripe) for the hand warmers i think the way my hand wamers are set up is power is taken from the killswitch since i don't have one, probably no big deal not to hook the yellow black wire up i'll just dummie it out and tape it off i think the stator should work fine anyway.johnny onebun
