oil pump issue

Post by MAPEX »

Hi Guys,

I have an oil pump for an 80 SRX (8K2), will this work an 81? it looks very similar to the one in my manual, but my cable doesn't seem to be long enough so I'm kinda confused. any ideas would be greatly appreicated.

Thanks,
Mike

The two pumps on the 80 SRX & 81 SRX are different, the 81 is a richer pump, it also has a different cam profile then the 80, so it may inject more or less at different throttle positions then the 80,this maybe because the 81 has 7 main bearings and the 80 only 6, the 81 seems to be a really rich pump even compared to the Vmax pump so you may be able to get away with it. Here are the outputs of the to pumps.
Why not put an ad in this site for an 81 pump ,there were alot of people that took them off and used pre mix you should be able to find one. I hope this will help you out. Also try a Vmax pump that maybe another option.

Yamaha measures them at 200 pump stokes

80 SRX
.95cc-1.19cc at idle
7.84cc-8.89cc at full throttle
81 SRX
1.19cc-1.43cc at idle
8.17cc-9.12cc at full throttle.
