Fitting a 1inch track.

Post by dave »

Can't find any mention of anyone doing this other than Joe and the 1 3/16 track. Just wondering what you guys have run into. I can't be the first one to try this Fitted a 1 inch from a 05 Rev to my 87. Found the track rubbed on the tunnel protectors and heat exchangers, had to trim the protectors at the driveaxle and lower the mounting holes for the rear of the suspension and that seperate set of idler wheels. Did this by redrilling both sets of holes a little over 2 cm closer to the running boards. The ft one had to leave stock because of the foot rest. Was going to try it out this weekend but it's rained here for the last 2 days and all our snow is wrecked, but we'll see. Let me know what you've run into. Can't post pictures because of computer glitch ( I think) but I'll keep trying. Thanks. Later.

A little update on the 1 3/16 track.

It does not steer as good as it did with the 5/8 track but it still steers well enough.

It used to ride really loose but now it pushes a little in the corners.

I may pull the second 1/3 of the carbides off the track to loosen the handling up some more.

I removed all the remaining studs from my track.
They were tearing up my trailer deck and ramps.
We have been fogged out of our usual riding area this weekend.
I want to go next weekend, but that is not likely to happen.
The 1 3/16 track with studs pulls too much tailstand and not enough turning.
I want that powerslide machine back that I knew and loved.
Is anybody else doing any riding?

Hey. We had a storm last week. Lots of snow on and around lake Winnipeg. Rode on saturday . Had a great time. The snow was blown in so it had packed feel to it, if that makes sense. Feel the 1 inch track helped in the snow. I don't think I got stuck as much except for trip into the reeds. (Thought I could make it. Should have maybe thought a little harder.) I was thinking of picking the track but I'm with you Joe I prefer a loose handling sled. It may not be as fast but way more fun. Might just try 48 picks for next year. I also have a set of skis from a Rx1 with 6 inch carbides. (mine have 4 inches) That may help to keep the ft from pushing with with the picks. I won't have that done till next year. So I'll keep ya posted.
