I have been having some trouble with my 90 Vmax with smoking lots of oil lately. We changed over the Choke cables as it was sticking abit in the up position when I first started it then it would smoke alot before I could get it back down or when the motor warmed up.
Went out for a small run to see how everything is working and I ended up using 1 full litre of oil for only about 60km. My plugs on both sides were really wet and I could feel it starting to die out at certain times. I would squeeze the throttle for more speed to try and adjust the flow but could only get it up to a certain point due to the oil. I have always used Yamalube oil.
Has anyone had this problem before? Could it be the oil pump is sticking wide open?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Oil Issues

I would check to oil pump ,remove the cover and check the cable, there is some grease in there and the cam maybe stuck ,I would clean out the old grease and make sure the cam moves freely and put some light grease on the cable and cam. Also make sure the cable is adjusted properly.
