Im putting together a 81 SRX and was just wondering if any guys on here found a way
where I could make this thing not blow up. Would putting in yamaha pistons be the better way?? Would it make it more reliable?? Is there something else?? Im sure not
making it engage at 7 grand would be a start. Also what weights and spring do i use on the clutch guys??

81 SRX specs?? rebuild mods??
The 102 comet for that sled uses N-1 weights part #209642A1 and a purple spring part #207888A it should engage about 5000 RPM's . All I do with mine is run good gas and jet the carbs for the temp and altitude and make sure everything is right and you shouldn't have any problems..

jetting
Where do I place the needle in the carbs for the 38's and what jetting do I need.
Yes they are Comet part#s and you can get them any where that sells snowmobile parts as most places sell Comet parts. It sounds like you are using round slide carbs ,maybe that is the reason you are having so much trouble as they came stock with butterfly carbs . These engine are fuel tempermental as it is ,putting other carbs without proper jetting is risky , I would try and find the right carbs or if you want to use the round slides I would jet them rich and work backwords from there (plugs are cheaper them pistons).
