85 Vmax 540 - Flywheel Housing/Water Pump Housing Removal?

Post by sarnone »

Friends, I have noticed coolant coming from my water pump gear oil breather! Most likely the seal. I have the engine out and all bolts removed inside the flywheel housing. It is off the crankcase by a couple of mms and is sort of loose. Anyone know the best method for getting off the rest of the way?

Thanks

You need to go to the harware store & buy some metric threaded rod. There is 2 spots in behind where the stator that you thread into then use a standard harmonic balancer puller the housing should come rate off.I forget what size of rod you need I beleive it is M8.

Sorry, I didn't figure out the forum search function until after my post. I found a discussion regarding this.

Would you know what I should replace in there, since I have it all apart? Should I go with the local dealer or order direct from yamaha?

Thanks for your help!
