mmm other than what? :?: i suggest the 102-C or 108... i would defintly be looking for a 102c its by far the easiest set up in my opinion
My airbox is held on by one screw, not because Im lazy but because it is less weight!

I was wondering what other machines did yamaha use the vmax clutch on SRV, Phazer, etc. My buddy owns a junk yard full of Yamaha's and I was hoping to get a clutch for my Vmax.

clutch

If you can find a clutch that looks like this it will work
Image
its off a phazer and srv and others it is not the right one but will work you just have to mess around abit with springs and weights . Polaris p 85 will work as well but again the clutch needs to be set up properly to get the performance desired!!! A stock phaser or srv will run your sled decently at least enough to get out for a ride anyways!!!
Sleds owned 1979 500cc eltigre 5000, 1981 340cc polaris cutlass, 1989 250 cc skidoo tundra, 1986 463cc skidoo formula mx, 1979 362 cc mirage(citation) 1985 543 cc vmax and a 1987 phazer

The Phazer & SRV YPZ clutches have a lip on the back side of the fixed sleeve that fits into the seal of the gear drive for the oil pump assembly in which the Vmax 540 does not.

Vmax-4 Clutch

Post by Vmax535 »

I use a Vmax-4 clutch, it has a offset hub that moves it away from the sheet metal. A Polaris Belt and make sure you back cut the helix 0.90 to allow for the wider belt and more shift. I set the secondary offset at 10 - 11 mm.

Those Yamaha/ Comet clutches IMO are the achillies heel of these sleds. They work well when new but are very hard on rollers.
