Let's Talk About: Movable Face Bushings

anyone have any experience changing these on a 102-c? I guess there are two types, one has snap rings and the other is just "staked" in.... i of course have the staked in type... The parts company rep. said that they are very hard to change and that most guys just end up buying a new clutch! Ive studied the "fiberglass" bushing and cant see any reason it would be so difficult.... Looks like all i need to do is knock it out and put the new one in possibly with some locktite. then ding the edge with a punch to also keep it in there... i dont have time to look up a picture of it right now but it is the bushing that rides on the center shaft, inside the outer sheave.... let me know what you guys have found when replacing this, is it really that hard? i want to know what im getting into before i end up wasting a $25 bushing.

PS the snow is falling in NW PA... i figure the longer i keep my sled apart the longer it will snow, so you guys can all thank me for taking one for the team

Tyler I have replaced many of these on all brands,the new bushing comes with red locktite,after you get the old one out and everything cleaned up use a propane torch and heat the sheave up,this will expand it and make it easyer to get the new one in,you will need a press and a socket of the corect size to get it all the way down in then just restake it, but be advised that sometimes they become very tight and dont fit back on without some polishing of the fixed sheave.
