84 vmax oil injection

Post by chrisd4jr »

I was just woundering how reliable the oiling systems are on these sleds mine has been disconnected from in front of the carbs and from the pump next to the fuel pump but the hoses on the bottom of the tank still run to the injection pump. The guy said he kept oil in the tank and mixed it with the gas ????? does not sound right to me. should i pull the tank and plug those line too?? or should i try to repair ?? If i do hook it up is there a way to prime the system to avoid a dry start?? Just lost and could use any help thanks Chris

The oil injection pumps on these sleds are VERY reliable , I have been working with these sleds since they came out and have never heard of a problem that can be said was caused by the oil pump period.I would hook yours back up and save yourself a lot of head akes ,not to mention oil. What does raise he-- with these engines is leaning out the carbs to much and air leaks that cause the engine to lean out These oil pumps are as reliable as any other Yamaha sled .

I agree..... the #1 issue I see are Lean jetting burn downs not, lack of oil. There is a bled screw on the pump, back it out until the oil flows with out air. Then start your sled (with a little pre-mix in tank) allow your sled to idle and pull your oil cable out of the sheath at the adjuster for a WOT oil mixture. Watch the oil pump outlet lines until all air bubbles are gone and your sled starts smoking like crazy then your good to go !
