clutch help on a '83 VMAX

clutch help on a '83 VMAX

is there any maintence to the clutch i need to do of anything to watch for, was told these sleds ate up clutches. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My Comet 102C blew apart at about 2500 miles. One of the rollers got a flat spot because it quit turning. Ate the weight and I didn't catch it fast enough and it ate into the spider. I am not sure what the cause of the problem ever was. I had to replace the bushings in the weights last season too. I would suggest pulling the weights and look for wear on the bushings. Make sure the rollers rotate freely. That's all I have ever done with mine, which I do every season now.
