availability of comet 102C

Can you still buy a new comet 102C for the vmax or should I simply rebuild my original. Do they have rebuild kits. The comet spring is silver for the vmax and the weights are A3's, is that right? Yamaha's spring is a different color but comets match is a silver if you go by stock spring tension.

you should definitly rebuild your clutch unless the casting is worthless... now having said that you may have a #%&*^$ time getting it apart without the proper tools and you can run the risk of destroying it if you dont do it as it was intended to be done....
FIRST get it all apart and make sure the casting is worth rebuilding ive seen where the rollers get so woreout they starting ovaling the holes the are supposed to be stationary in even in this case all you really need is the spider.... also a reason you might buy a new clutch is that the faces have "rings" around them... or they dont have a smooth face.... this wont help you when you get into clutching...
the bushings and rollers and weights can be kinda expensive (considering all they really are is steal and fiberglass and such) but WAY cheaper than buying a whole new clutch.... they dont make an "all inclusive" rebuild kit since there are sooo many "sub-models" of the 102-c....
once you get it all apart then you can see what pieces you need.... dont do like me and order parts and then when they come in realize you ordered the wrong ones, TWICE!
youll want to get the PURPLE COMET spring... advertised as coming in at like 4900 or something that.... there are two purple spring you want the stiffer one... one spring is actually a lighter purple from what ive seen but all the catalogs say is purple for both of them... tear it apart.. take some pics(if want/ can)... ask me some more questions.... we'll get you going again...
ps you can expect a little less than $100 for the parts... or like $500 for a new set up

Where could I get a comet spring and I need A# weights and the plasitic washers that go inside the weights...

i think that most of the time when you buy new weights the bushings come with them.... im not sure how much money you want to invest but i would suggest rebuilding it all... then you have something you know is solid
