The clutch should be disassembled each season and inspected.
Make sure all the bushings are free but not wobbly.
If they are sticky, you can clean and lubricate them to get them working again.
Use lubricant sparingly. It tends to migrate during use and make a mess under the hood.
If they are wobbly, they will need to be replaced.
The roller bolt holes in the spider need to the correct size.
If the holes are excessively oversize, the spider will need to be replaced.
The rollers and weights need to be free of dent, dings and flat spots.
The ramp action needs to be smooth.
Make sure the movable shieve moves freely before reassembly.
Make sure the belt faces are smooth but have no lubricant on them.
Lubrication will cause them to slip and get hot.
Too much heat will cause the belt to fail and/or the buttons on the spider to melt.
