Hey guys. I was just wondering if there is anything i can do to the plastic parts on my vmax in order to make them look newer and not so faded. any help would be great.

I have used steel wool to clean badly faded tank covers and then armarol (sp) with decent results. I used to see a product called Back to Black but, can't seem to find it ?

I tried the back to black product but it didnt really work that well for me . meguiars has a detailer that comes in a bright red spray bottle its for vynle and plastic and it is awsome stuff. it made my black plastics look brand new. got it at pep boys. the other stores should have it.

If Back to Black doesnt work for me, i resort to re paintng with Crylon Fusion.

Just did the Tank Cover and side vents on my 81 SRX restoration

I use Martin Senour "Bumper Black" #7240 paint that you can buy at any Napa dealer. It is what they call their " Professional Detailers Line" of paints. It comes in a spray can and is made for painting plastic bumper covers and other plastic external car parts. It has a perfect satin finish that matches the original color, stays flexible and won't peel. I prep by washing with Simple Green or brake clean to remove any oils, blow dry then paint. No primer is needed. Their "Chassie Black" is also perfect for all the black metal parts on these Yammies. Again it has the right satin finish for these parts and it lays out beautifully although it should be primed first. Their "Hi-Temp" is also great for the exhaust.

I have tried just about every kind of paint out there for this kind of stuff and have not found anything better that comes out of a spray can. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for.
