87 vmax problem?

i have a 87 vmax and im not sure if its just me but it seems like when im going full throttle its not revving out all the way has anyone else had this problem?

its hitting right where it should be right before the redline but something just doest feel right maybe the plugs?

Hmmm, let's see... First off why do you feel the machine is not winding out like it should? A properly clutched vmax with a healthy engine and proper carb calibrations should pull hard on the powerband as it winds up. Oftentimes stiff springs, high rewinds and light weights give a person the impression that they are really going somewhere when actually it's the sound of a free revving engine not being asked to show it's full potential. Your problem sounds just the opposite. Full shift out on a heavily studded, stock vmax on icy road conditions takes a little bit of distance. Maybe a quarter mile, etc., give-take riders weight, air temp .... You should be at 90 mph more or less by then, I would guess. I think you need to give your transmission a good looking over, for wear, alignment etc. It's an acclimation thing for sure. Let me know more, maybe I can help further. MJD

Let's see take a Black sharpie and draw a straight line from top of the secondary clutch to the bottom. Take it out and give it Hell, then check the secondary clutch if mark is gone your all out. This shows how far the belt is sucking down in secondary clutch

Great advice!
I would do the same to the clutch to see if the belt is going to the top of the clutch.

One aspect that I neglected to mention earlier is to double check the free spin of the track drive. For every machine should transmision its power as smoothly as possible. There is a lot of drag (weight) inherent to track dive vehicles. We just have to understand that, and deal with it.. MJD
