So what should i do with the pipes to get the most hp , , , THey would only run low 90s mph ? Wasnt the 81 SRX faster than that ?Oh and how many of these Sleds were made , Mine was made in april 1990 , so its a 91

I wish there was a way to find out the production #'s and I'm keeping a list of serial #'s from anyone that is willing to share the vin#'s and will figure a way to put a running number on the site to at least give us a ball park figure ? J.M.O. That the 1983's were the highest production followed by 1984 or 86 models and the 88-91Canadian numbers are all fairly low ?

I'll give up the 4-5 mph to the 81SRX in favor of the greatly increased reliability/rideability of the 540 !

Hi Chris, You might want to consider restoring that sled to perfect showroom stock and save your mods for another project. With a serial # of 102 and the last year of production you have something very special that will be worth alot if done right and it's value will only appreciate. Condition, originality and history are the most important things to the value on any vintage sled but desirability, production #'s and production year can play a much greater roll in a sleds value. I don't think anyone knows how many 91 Vmaxes were produced but it can't be that many. With the serial # on yours it should rank at the top of them all for that year and being the last year of production will make a huge difference. The Vmax 540 is becoming more and more valuable each year and any collector would love to have that sled especially if it is done right so be carfull with it. Even if you don't restore it but keep it in it's current condition and try to find all the correct parts for it you will be increasing it's value.
Good Luck, Phil
