high idle, runs on 1 cylinder unless slightly choked

Hi all, I picked up an 84 540 v max that has sat for quite a while, changed fuel lines and fired up, it appears to run on 1 cylinder and will run on both by slightly choking the 2nd carb. Then idle goes way high til I let choke off. EGT on 1 cylinder is 480 and 100.... could this be filter or idle jet? Appears to have good fuel flow from pump... any ez ideas?

Lean conditions such as pugged jets/passage ways/orifices or float settings can cause a high idle. Cracked or loose Carburetor to cylinder mounting flanges and leaking crank case seals which pull in air to lean the mixture can cause a high idle. Look for a hung up or miss adjusted throttle cable. Make sure there is play on the choke cable. Do not try to run this way or a burn down will be the outcome.
