I have an 83 V-Max and I'm trying to determine if the throttle stop switch on it is the correct one for this year. The one that's on their as you can see from the picture looks like the type you typically find on the TORS equipped throttles from 85 and later Yamaha sleds. I would think this year would have the red rubber cap because it has a kill switch. Maybe somebody out there knows.

when i got my 83, my throttle stop button was broke. thumb lever was way smaller. i have yours on mine now exactly the same. work great. i believe mine is a tors throttle like yours.there was no tors in 83. 3:16 (yammie tony)

What confuses me about the throttle is that it's not a TORS throttle. This is a two wire not a three wire TORS throttle. Maybe somebodies has a picture of their stock 83 V-Max throttle they can post.

right, mine had third wire and i was told when i bought it here it was off a 84 vmax. i had the 83 throttle but my knob was broke. i should still have it. two wire is 83. 3:16 (yamme tony)

Tony You have the correct handle & switch as far as the knob goes. The 85 & up had a 3 wire switch but every thing else was the same. The original 83 wasn't like the 81 82 SRX with the red rubber cap but just like the one you have on your sled. It is correct..
