weight of Vmax
What was the dry weight of the VM ax?
Re: weight of Vmax
Never weighed a 540 but, I think somewhere in the range of ~450lbs-465lbs ?

Re: weight of Vmax
Now that the engine is back in mine, maybe I can get to that today A year or two ago I did my SRV, with the air box, oil inj, and anything else I didn't need in it I was expecting a little less. I was wrong, 490
Re: weight of Vmax
Yamaha listed the 83 at 452 lbs dry and the others at 472 lbs dry. I never weighed any but that is what Yamaha said.

Well heres the answer Longacaer digital race scales, match every race track we go to
83 V max no water very, very little gas no air box or oil system, slightly less weight in jugs cause its now 618 cc
474 lbs
guess memory might be bad on SRV, can't see where that could be heavier
also just for reference, '99 v max 600 triple, just because it was sitting here 556lbs

I think that's not to bad. Regans F500 sled for USSA class has a hard time getting to the 400 min. thats light weight hood, no gas tank, cowl, dash tiny alum skis, or anything not needed, removed. Our drag sled came in around 360, that's just a tunnel and come chromemoly tube. Without Ti or Mag. parts, it gets harder the lighter you want to make it.
Some of the state of the art new stuff claims mid 400 # now days, first I'd like to see that in real scales and second, that stuff has space age triangulated alum. frames, engine is part of the chassis. Couldn't even think of that type of thing 10 years ago.
I haven't dug out my Cat 6000 yet, but bet its a fair amount heavier

Re: weight of Vmax
Well, wrong again, on the 81 ElTigre 6000, 448, the SRV was 474 about the same as V Max
Re: weight of Vmax
Dynotech actually put one on the scale back in the day. Full of coolant, oil and 3 gallons of fuel the sled was 510 pounds. Compare that to a 91 Ski Doo Mach 1 weighed with the same scale and same amount of fuel 593 pounds. The Mach made 108hp and the Vmax was 86hp.
