I have a new project that i am going to work on over the summer. It is an 81 srx 440 bottom end (8m6) with Vmax 8u9 cylinders. the cylinders have "MK 3" stamped just under the 8u9 casting on the cylinders. I have never seen this stamping before so i am questioning if any of you faithful vmax lovers out there know the relation of that stamping. Perhaps it is the initials of the person that did the port work, maybe it is something else all together. Either way, i plan to get this thing shoehorned into an 87 that i plan to bring to Waconia next year when Yamaha is the highlighted brand. This is going to be fun.

Speednutt, I have 20 plus cylinders so, I'll take a look but, you're probably right on the porting initals ? PS. I moved this from the classifieds to the Project section.

The bottom end is being rebuilt at the moment. Needed all new bearings so should have it back in the case in a week or so. I am getting excited for it to run. Getting a 3 cylinder Polaris ignition set up to run this bad boy.

Delaughter built lots of these 3 cylinders, they made very good power! Youd be best to call him on the pipes for it!
