Hey guys, I got a srx 440 and was in the process of tearing it down to fix seals and bearings. I went to drop the one crank into the other cases and they didnt fit......I noticed that the one 8M6 bottom end had big bearings on the clutch side like a vmax and the other 8M6 bottom end didnt 8H0 is stamped on both sets of rods on each bottom end. I was wondering if its a srx 500 bottom end. In that case i wanna sell it to finance my 81 srx project thats been going on since I joined this site lol.

Look under the bottom half of the engine see if it is cast 8m6 or 8r9 or 8 u9 pm me a price if. It is 8r9 engine .

They say say 8m6 still but the cranks are different.......

I found a srx 8 r9 motor last year but it says 8m6 on lower casting .does anyone. Know what should be cast on the lower case I never split the cases to check the size of the bearings. does your motor have a vin # on it

It had I believe a "1 98" inside the casting.

"I am not a motor guy, but the 82 SRX's have an increased bearing size on one end of the crank compared to the 81's. Then in 83 both sides get the increased size bearings and I think they increased the shaft size on the mag side. Again, I am not a motor expert, I send them out for work. The 81 and 82 crank cases have one impulse line to the fuel pumps. The 83's have two. The case on the 82 looks basically idental to an 83 but an 83 crank will not fit in it. The 81's are noticably smaller in appearance. The extra 82 SRX gear boxes that house the mag were (in my opinion) sent to Canada for the update when they changed out the ignition, gear box ".
