hey guys, last summer i got an 81 srx for free!!!! from a friend, the mag side is blown, it has only 3000 and some km's....... im trying to figure out if it is a matching numbers stock sled or not, like if the cdi is changed, or other things factory changed. i know it has a little blot at the front of the motor to ajust it, and i think that was an update?.....

tunnel: 8M6-001208
crank case: RT437-001208
.....buut, the R and T on the crank case looks messed up, they look over stamped, everything else is fine,
can you guys help me out?

My best guess without seeing a pic of the #'s.

For starters all the 81's I've seen with the original mag housing are stamped---

RT437-XXXXXX with letter/numbers that measure about 1/4" tall.

I'm thinking his has had the mag housing updated and whoever did it only had a number set and tried to make an R and a T using a 1 and a 3. It probably just didn't work well for them. The height of his numbers might be more telling.

Or??????
