Hi there, I have a 86 vmax that I have been trying to get started I have spark but it seems weak.. When I say it seems weak, when I pull it over it only sparks for a second while the motor is still in its revolution.. I'm not sure if this is common for Yamaha or these year sleds? I cleaned the lower crankcases because they were fill with old gas an oil thinking this is the reason why it will not start.. Still no luck. Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you
Kevin

Kevin, Try the obvious spark plugs and yes, spark plug caps can also, be a cause of weak spark but, first
clean and check all the connectors especially, those on the Rt. front bottom of engine where the stator harness connects to wiring harness. If this is an 86 then make sure the T.O.R.S. is operating correctly.

I see it has t.o.r.s. I got the machine with one cable missing on the carb an one disconnected.. Is there a way to over ride this? I've looked to see where the one plugs in but haven't been able find a plug in..

Unhook connections at both carbs then simply plug the 2 wires of the
wiring harness into each other. (1 male/1 felmale)
