Secondary clutch ???????????

Will the newer yamaha viper/srx/vmax secondary clutch splines match my 81 srx 440 splines?
I believe only the 94-96 vmax clutch will work. It is the same as the newer stuff (helix, springs ect.) but has different splines i believe. Many guys are running that clutch on older exciters too.
