SRX running issue

Hey Guys,
This is my 3rd SRX project and I've ran into a snag...I got the engine rebuilt and put back into the sled all wired up and when I get it fired its only running on 1 cylinder (recoil side) and not firing on the other. However, the smoke coming out of the exhaust is a white'sh colored smoke. I'm not sure why this is so, maybe a leaking head gasket? Its getting spark, not the strongest but enough to fire. So I'm kinda at a crossroads b/c I can't figure it out...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time guys.
Mike

if you pull the plug on the cyl thats not fireing did you notice any coolant around the tip wet tips will usually not fire. making sure the oring stays where its suppose to during reassembly can be a pain in the a$$

I would start by doing both a compression test and using an automotive cooling systen checker. Its a hand pump that replaces the radiator cap then pressurizes the water system, see if it holds pressure.

Thanks guys, its getting to that time of the year and I'd like to have the SRX ready for a few vintage rides that are planned. I'll definetly do the pressure test, but are there any tricks as to getting the orings to seat correctly and stay in there correct place? Like I've said, I must have just gotten lucky before b/c this is the 3rd SRX that I've done in the past 2 years but this one is stumping me!!!

Personally, I thought the Windrosa aftermarket gasket, which are what I got, were of pretty poor quality, don't know if there are better ones around. Some people say not to use silicone to hold the ring in place, worked for me, but I didn't use much.
We race karts, I learned from that, that soaking the o ring in methanol will shrink it up alittle, that took some of the extra slop out of it and it held tighter in the groove

I was thinking about this today....I redid my v-max 540 last year and i put a SRX 440 stator in my v-max but i had to cut the wires on my wiring harness to match the SRX 440 stator and the wires were crimped together and i had the same problem with a cylinder not firing. My buddy soddered the wires instead and it was end of problem. So spray some cleaner on the stator plate wires and and jiggle them around see if that makes a difference. Also check the reading on your stator.

Hey guys,
So I've gotten back into the sled, got the head off and all needed stuff out of the way as to get a good look at whats happeneing...The Clutch side cylinder, the one not firing looks real wet, so I'm figuring that the inside, piston gasket is the culprit and as usual, looks alittle big and to me looks not thick enough to create a good seal. Instead of getting a whole new set of orings for the top end are there any other fixes that you've came across, subsituting different o-rings, thicker? Or anything else I can try before I spend another arm and leg for a gasket set. Thanks again and ahead of time!
Mike
