I just picked up a different hood for my 86 Vmax at the St. Germain show and swap. I know this hood is stock in color. It's a VERY dark burgundy. With metal flake in it. A assume this is stock. It has the decals for an 86. I looked at a 87 Vmax about 2 years ago. That had the same color and metal flake also. But with the 87 decals.

Now I'm wondering.......Shouldn't the sidepanels match the color to the hood? Mine are black. With the stock decals on the side panels for an 86.

The side panels are a medium black.My 89 also has the flakes in the paint aswell.

BUT, is the stock color for the 86 hood a very dark red, with red metalic? If so, anyone have a paint code? Or a code I can use so i can paint my headlight cover to match.

i have not seen one of those hoods in person yet the description sounds like a black cherry almostbut i know the side panels are black satin .

Ya, your right. The best way to describe it would be, a metalic black cherry color.

Take it to a automotive paint supply and have them scan the hood.
