your question is... (ive been talking to him via PM)
what would you jet 38mm NON powerjet carbs to to run on a srx440?... or should he just buy the butterflies from his friend
i have always heard the the 38's on a srx get jetter about the same as a vmax... but without powerjets i guess you need to go up on the main jet... maybe ~340 mains?

I had 330's in the PJ carbs was very lean in midrange. Wanted to go to 340, but they seem to all be in the other sleds so Iwent to 350 and dropped the needles. I know theres 340's in the SRV which right now makes a bit more power, those are 39.5 non PJ carbs.
I als went from 40 to 55 on the piolet jets. It was about 700 deg at high idle, now its at 400 and starts much easier. Will let you know more this weekend. Anyone around here going to the races at Plymouth?

Just putting up what I have on a SRV and V Max for reference. A carb doesn't know what its on, it only knows air flow. Both of mine are ported, too much for a good trail sled

If the butterflys are off the 81 ,not the 80 SRX as they used different butterfly's I would use the 81 butterfly's . They really weren't that bad a carb as long as you stayed on top of the jetting.

here another thing to consider.... if you run slides you gotta also run the throttle block form the 83+... the thumb throttle on the srx will not pull the slides all the way open... i just remembered that.... also... if you run the 83+ the kill switch will not plug into the 81 harness... i cut and spliced mine it really wasnt hard
