Big problems dont know where to start

Put the MAX back together and its misfiring and not running right. It worked awesome yesterday for about 2 minutes then started missing.....and then flooding again and had to tow myself back to the frickin garage with the exciter lol. My buddy said maybe a coil or maybe a fuel pump???I dont know where to start, I put a stator on it from a 83 v-max maybe its crap. I had to switch the stators because the old one looked shitty and the lighting coil didnt work, the new one had all the same readings as the old one aside from the lighting coil being dead. Could it be my coil that goes from the spark plugs?? Also when i pulled off the spark plugs one was wet and almost foiled and the other dry and a charcoal colour.

hi again

It will sit and idle not bad but when throttle applied it boggs and just runs like shit, sounds like a 81 SRX problem i guess ill take the carbs off again and rebuild them could it be the power jets??

Chris, you say it is flooding which leads me to believe you may have a Carb. float and/or needle and seat issue. Most issue's with the fuel pump are a leaking diaphram which floods the engine when sitting and therefore is hard or impossible to start or a weak pump which fails to pump enough fuel.

thanks chuck I didnt have one of the lines from the crank to the pump hooked in so I think that is the problem or a stuck float bowl.

wow here we go again

It turns out that I had a missing vacum line to the crank from the fuel pump, I connected that and now it is bogging on the bottom end and I took the spark plugs off and the right side is wet and black and the left side is dry......Ideas guys?? and again last year when I blew her up it was running like a top, alot of nice v-max bottom end....

Do a compression test on that side, before you run it anymore

yeah, what bob said.... hate to tell you this but missing that pulse line is a HUGE problem... you probably fried that piston

Did it on my SRV, They normally have only one pulse line, I tapped a second one to power the slide rail lube pump. When we quit racing I just capped it off. years later I burned a piston, thought it just got lean, put in a new one and burned it again in the first few miles, then I looked. The hose I plugged it with had rotted off, I keep an eye on that now

It was running well again and then it fouls out the plugs again. I dont think a piston can be blown and then blown again. I put the line back on and it was running well and then started missing again. Im not sure if a miss sounds like a fried piston. Trust me i know what that sounds like after it happened when i was walking home 2 miles in a foot of snow to get the exciter to tow me home.

Now it seems to run ok but has a low end bogg, my dad said clutching??

mmmm sounds like you got lucky... still do a compression check... what is it engageing at? if it comes in too early it will make it bog

Compression check at 120 each cylinder, the clutch comes in at around 3600 around there but thats what the manual says to bring it in at i think i need a new spring probably though where could i get one??

Sure it can! They can melt down on the very first ride if whatever ruined it the first time wasn't taken care of!

Looks like you guys were right I burned down the right side now. Would that vacum line cause it to blow up like that just from 30 seconds of riding??
