seen the setup for the 86, does the same apply to an 89? if not can someone share their settings for sea level or a little higher?

also noticed this "Power Jet/ Power Air Jet L:135 R:130/ L:1.5 R:1.4 "

anyone know why left to right is different? thanks tech gurus!!! :)

Remember, those are suggestions, jetting is very temperature and alt. dependent and most of all, how much work you want to do. If you want to be on the edge of power, you need to stay on top of it whenever the temp changes. Getting the main right is pretty easy, keeping the midrange clean is much harder.
I've found jet stager to be more common in fan cooled sleds where the cooling ail hits the mag side first heating it, then on to the clutch side. IDK why on these but it could be in how the cooling water flows, of, maybe something in the air box where one side flows a hair more air.
Sorry, I don't have a real answer because I haven't had mine out yet.

thanks bob, yeah looking for more of a baseline to start with, jettingwise,

first for me though on the diff powerjets, never seen that before... just making sure there wasn't any drastic changes from 86-89

The Carb settings for the 89 Vmax is as follows.
Mains 290
Main air jet 2.5
Jet needle 6DH27-3
Needle Jet Q-0
Pilots 40
Air screw 1.0 +or-1/4
Power Jet (L) 150 (R) 130
Power Air Jet (L) 1.5 (R) 1.4
Idle speed 1500 RPM

These came right from a 89 manual, the Jet needle is different then the older Vmax's they started using it (according to the manuals any how)in 1989, after checking with a Canadian dealer his parts manuals showed that they used the same as the earlier Vmax's 6DH1's if you do have an 89 please let me know what your's has. as I haven't been able to figure out what they really had. I don't know if they changed them because of the Canadian gas or what. I was going to get a set a couple of years ago but no luck, couldn't even get a part# The dealer kept coming up with the 6DH1's..
