Grip removal

I got new handlebars this week. They did not come with heated handle grips.
How do I get the heated handle grips off my old handle bars (without breaking the grips) to put on the new handle bars?
Neither grip has the end damaged, so the hole is still approximately 6 mm.
I tried the air hose technique that usually works with smooth handle bars but it did not remove the heated grips. Apparently, the knurling holds the grip tighter than smooth bars. It is also possible, the previous owner glued the grips to the handle bars.
Does heating the grip help?
How hot is safe?
What is the least damaging technique for pulling on the grip?
Should I just buy new grips for the new handlebars?
I was just looking at the Yamaha parts website. Where do they hide the grips? They are not on the steering page. Not on the electrical 1 nor electrical 2 page. Where are they?
The only electric grips I could find were on the electrical 2 page of the 1987 EX570. These are similar but they have a connector at the grip to disconnect the wire harness from the grip. The wire is not part of the grip. The wire is a separate wiring harness from the grips.
