Christo, needles stock: 6DH7?. Slide cutaways: 2.5.? I'm still not sure this is your problem., Maybe you got something else wrong, maybe? . What is your cyl. compression? The cyl. comp. is so important for fuel draw into the comb. chamber for the next charge and it shoulde be 120psi min. Oftentimes people findout afterward that their engine is sick inside. It's common with the old vmax, cause it's old.You might have to go back and take a re-look at your walls and pistons for scuff, and any bearing slop also. Hell, I dunno? Get back to me. MJD.

Heres what i have for jetting and its a pre delivery sheet that came wit my sled. its an 83 . id scan it but my scanner took a shit. so here it goes
main jets stock 330 change to 290
power jet Lh-135 stays 135
Rh130 change to 125
power air jet Lh 1.5 stays 1.5
Rh1.8? change to2.0
pilot jet Lh45 change to 35
Rh45 change to 35
air screw 1/2 turn for both.
and it says for all intents and purposes the final speciifications are now the standard specs for the v-max.use the final specs as your reference points when servicing or tuning your v-max.
also for the secondary clutch while im at it
the secondary spring preload is factory set at 40d(holes c&2)for use with the8u9 v- belt .an 8m6belt gives better overall performance during pre delivery remove the 8u9 belt .install an 8m6 and set the secodarary spring preload to60,70, 80 degrees wichever brings the shift rpm to 8100rpm

clutch spec
60 d- holes b-2
70 d--c-3
80d-a-3

shift rpm 8100+- 100 rpm
these are sea level specs
