[quote="Vmax540"]Ahhhhh..... Monty the Red- Straight Rate 180 455 and if I remember you may have a set of whites and maybe a set of straight blacks ? The mid 90's Vmax springs are the same diameter but, are ~1.5" longer and the lowest rate is higher than the 80's springs. ( see the TSS Spring chart in the Article section )

being 1.5 inches longer than the older springs.... then I would have to build another retainer bracket that would drop them that much more. Correct?
Its too late in the season to be much more concerned at this point!
Also read you post on vintagesleds.com. The vintage IFS group is a bunch of pompus asses. All they can think about is the skidoo's. and its killing the class fast. All they want to do is to only allow SSR;Z's;RXL's and Skidoo's from 78-83 in the class.
At this point I plan on racing here in central minnesota on 2/24/08; 3/1/08; 3/2/08 and then if the weather hold the last race is 3/8/08. I have a DVD of last weeks race comming. If its decent, Maybe I'll post on utube and give you all a link. I wooped butt BIG in the 600cc sportsman class.

"then I would have to build another retainer bracket that would drop them that much more. Correct? " I believe you'd just have to compress the spring that much farther ? If you want there are 2 springs for the Vmax that are stffer than the red rate. Love to see that on You tube !

getting ready for the next race this sunday. sled has been raced now 3 times. Running in the >'92 sportsman 600cc class. At this point I've racked up 1 first and 2 seconds. Not too shabby for my first 3 races. Sled is the fastest out there, but I just need more seat time to determin how hard I can push it. Reworked the front end last week and handling is better, but still have a way to go.

here are some pics taken this morning in the driveway!

Chuck...I still plan on posting videos on utube at some point

Grabbing the gas and holding on is not the problem!!!
Learning how hard and deep I can drive into the corners is going to require more seat time. Clutching is off quite a bit. Off the line is a dead duck, but Mid and High is spot on. I'll get it all figured in time

crwdog What is your clutch engaging at? I have mine set for 4200 and it pulls hard out of the hole! Also what are you running for a belt?I always ran a Yamaha Belt until one of my friends said to try a Dayco Ultra Max. My Vmax runs faster on the Dayco Ultra Max!

Thanks Chuck....
I won my heat and Feature today! Beat up on a couple Indy 650's. Starting to get comfortable with the sled. Still have a way to go yet, but at this point our race season is now over. Racked up 3 first place; and two second place in the 5 races I was able to make this year.
Now if I can work on some sponsorship $$$$ to help with travel and entry fees for next year - LOOK OUT!

That's one great looking sled Monty. Congrats and I'm glad your hard work is paying off. There is not much oval racing around here so I'm not to familiar with it but is that sideways chizzels I'm looking at every other one on the outside right? To help control slideout I'm assuming? I do a lot of river running down here on the Vmax-4 which has some nasty right and left handers and I was thinking about doing something similiar last year on it with a mix of picks and chizzels to help with both straight line and cornering. They carve as good or better than any stocker out there but there is always room for improvement. The river never got good enough to really run this year so I didn't try anything but I would love to pick someones brain on the subject who has some experiance with it. Give me a call sometime when things settle down. You have my #.

Again Great sled,Good Luck, Phil (opsled)

PS.
I'm not sure how your spare Vmax parts supply is but I have quite a bit of stuff here and if I can help you stay in the winners circle without going broke I'm willing to help. I have also gone through some of my EX340 stuff and I think I have the perfect engine for you.

 Now if I can work on some sponsorship $$$$ to help with travel and entry fees !! I hear ya on that subject! I only do the local Radar Runs. When I raced Stockcars, I was working three jobs and just made it! I miss racing the Oval world with 30 guy's who would run their own mother over to Win! Also for the Record I'm the same way!
