Airbox or No Airbox
What if I don't have the powerjets on my carbs??? That box is such a pain and I figure I can get a little more speed without the extra weight.

Air Box
If you are making it a Mod, I would pull it. If running Stock leave it on or you will be building a engine!

Re: Airbox vs. No Airbox
Wow, I have done some tough AIRBOXES in my life, BUT THIS ONE HERE HAS GOT TO BE IN THE TOP 2 WORST TO INSTALL. I don't think I ever want to take it off again! What a pia. Any tricks or ideas?

Remove seat. Remove fasteners from tank cover and tank. Slide tank back. Remove secondary clutch.AdrenalineJunky wrote:Wow, I have done some tough AIRBOXES in my life, BUT THIS ONE HERE HAS GOT TO BE IN THE TOP 2 WORST TO INSTALL. You're the first ever to complain about the airbox....AdrenalineJunky wrote:Wow, I have done some tough AIRBOXES in my life, BUT THIS ONE HERE HAS GOT TO BE IN THE TOP 2 WORST TO INSTALL. I don't think I ever want to take it off again! What a pia. Any tricks or ideas?

I leave mine, and that's because I want to keep it stock.

Re: Airbox vs. No Airbox
I did mine a bit different, got rid of all the plumbing, single pump, regular 38's and no box. Was careful learning what it wanted for jets and no problems in 3 years.
Not sayin you should do it, just telling you what I did, much easier to work on now

Re: Airbox vs. No Airbox
It isn't fun no matter what you do, but the easiest way I have found in to loosen the air box from the carbs, then remove the two screws holding the box to the frame and push to the rear as far as you can what isn't much, then remove the carbs and take them out first that will give you room to get the box out. Just reverse to install the box.
