Hey. We had a storm last week. Lots of snow on and around lake Winnipeg. Rode on saturday . Had a great time. The snow was blown in so it had packed feel to it, if that makes sense. Feel the 1 inch track helped in the snow. I don't think I got stuck as much except for trip into the reeds. (Thought I...

Fitting a 1inch track.
Can't find any mention of anyone doing this other than Joe and the 1 3/16 track. Just wondering what you guys have run into. I can't be the first one to try this Fitted a 1 inch from a 05 Rev to my 87. Found the track rubbed on the tunnel protectors and heat exchangers, had to trim the protectors at...

Fitting kimpex 08-160 shocks to a 87
These are advertised as fitting 88 to 91 v-max. Figured they'd fit a 87. Nope. On the stock shock is a groove about a inch down from the top where a circlip and a collar are fitted. These parts hold the lower spring seat in place. The kimpex shocks has a larger groove right at the top. So the circli...

Took me a while to figure out how to do this. Here a some shots of the shims, the halves put together with the 4 shims installed and the areas where the shims sit on each of the sheaves. http://www.postimage.org/aV7Bfvr.jpg http://www.postimage.org/aV7Bh_A.jpg http://www.postimage.org/Pq54a4S.jpg ht...

secondary clutch shims
Hey. Cleaning up my secondary and according to the manual two 1mm shims between the sheaves should space the halves 2mm apart. (for a new belt) My clutch has 4 shims (approx. 4 mm) and the halves touch. I figure another 2-3 shims to get the correct clearance. Doesn't seem to be obvious wear on eithe...

fuel shut off
The sled runs good but I'll try rebuilding the pumps. Probaly should be done regardless. Wondering what you mean "when the carbs become worn" How would this cause the fuel to be "siphoned" into the engine?

fuel shut off
Wondering if it's common for the 540 to flood like you wouldn't believe if the fuel shut off isn't used when the sled sits for any length of time. Ive owned other sleds that had shut offs but I really only used them when the sled was being trailered.

Some one put a Auto meter mechanical gauge in my 87. They glued and clamp the sensor into the orginal yamaha water pipe. It's crude but it dosen't leak. The gauge starts at 140 so it's only use is to tell me when the sleds running hot but it does work. Auto Meter has a gauge that reads from 100 to 2...
